Carla Denise Johnson

Carla Denise Stanton (Johnson) was born on April 13, 1976, to Frederick and Gloria Stanton. She joined Patrice in the family and was later joined by Kimberlee.

Her early education began in the Birmingham City School system. Her love for music began when she learned to play the saxophone in Third Grade. Her education continued as a student at Midfield High School and so did her music. After high school graduation, she attended Talladega College, graduating with a degree in Biology. While at Talladega she enlarged our family when she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She did further graduate studies at Alabama State University.

Carla loved God, her family, life and all the people that she met. Her exuberance was shown through her participation in the youth ministry at Friendship Baptist Church. Her participation in the P.I.N.G. Gospel singing let her showcase her singing.  After she completed her education, she became the head cheerleader for her favorite son, Caleb's baseball games. She was also a loving mother to Jordan and Kennedy.

Life later led her to Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her time there. As her health declined, she was present in the service in other ways. Her love for Pastor and Mrs. Wesley grew over the years.

Memories of Carla are left with her parents, Frederick and Gloria Stanton; her sisters, Patrice Stanton and Kimberlee (Larry) Boyd; daughters, Jordan Garrison and Kennedy Johnson; her favorite son, Caleb Johnson; two of the best nieces a person could ask for, Ava Boyd and Rylee Boyd and her grandmother, Georgia Lewis. She will forever be remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and those wonderful ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
