Bruce Jones

Brother Bruce D’Wayne Jones, the first child born to Elbert Jones, Sr. and the late Burnetta Smith Jones was born on April 24, 1966, at Holy Family Hospital in Ensley, Alabama.
He confessed hope and faith in Christ and became a member of First Baptist Church, Roosevelt under the leadership of Pastor Mack Fredrick, Sr. He continued his growth in the Lord under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Palmore, Sr. On September 29, 2018, he was ordained as a Deacon.
He was educated in the Birmingham School system attending West End High School and graduating from Ensley High School. He was an avid football player. Later, in October 1987, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After successfully completing his tour-of-duty with honor and distinction, he was Honorably Discharged on October 4, 1990. Upon his return home, he became a long-distance driver as an employee with Deaton Trucking Company. With the inspiration and guidance of Jesus, his Savior, he received the desires of his heart, which was to purchase his own truck and to become an independent trucker with Deaton Trucking Company, Universal Trucking Company and Blair Logistics. He had a passion and love for driving.
On June 10, 1995, he married the love of his life. She would bring a sparkle to his eyes when he returned home from a long road trip. To this union, one son was born.
Bruce was always willing to lend a helping hand. He also shared his relationship with Christ with everyone he met and left a lasting impression as well. He loved lavish cars and wearing hats and caps.
Jesus was the center of his life. He kept the faith until the end. On Thursday, June 23, 2022, Bruce exchanged his earthly home for his heavenly home at Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Burnetta Smith Jones.
