Bobbie Nell Crosby was sent by our Heavenly Father to be one of God's earthly angels to display His greatest command - LOVE EVERYONE! Bobbie was born in Docena, Alabama on January 13, 1943. She was the second oldest child born to the late Rev. David C. Holmes and Mrs. Francis L. Holmes. As a child, her father said, "She was the apple of his eyes." She started singing praises to God as a little girl with her sisters, Mildred and Mary, at her father's church. At an early age while attending Docena Elementary and Junior High she was a nurturer and second mother to all of her siblings and numerous cousins. She loved them with all of her heart through her rod, delicious meals, and wonderful deserts. As a teenager, Bobbie attended Westfield High School and graduated with a certification as a beautician. She was a wonderful barber and beautician and had practiced many years on her three younger sisters Ann, Valorie and Connie's hair. Everyone in Docena, the community where she was raised, would come to her house for Bobbie to do their hair for 10 cents. As a young woman, she began a new career as a nursing assistant when she lived with her sister, Mildred, in Chicago. She then returned to Alabama to marry her teen sweetheart that she began dating when she was 15 and he was 16. They were joined in union by her father, Rev. David C. Holmes on June 6, 1966 and moved to Cleveland, OH for 34 years. To this union, her greatest gifts, four children were born. As a gracefully maturing woman, in Cleveland, OH, Bobbie developed many special relationships and gained many dear friends. After her youngest child became of age to care for himself, she resumed her nursing assistant career taking care of patients at McGregor Nursing Home until she retired. Many of her patients' family said she was a God sent and loving nurse. In 2003, she returned back home to Birmingham, AL, for the later years of her life. Still with vigor and love in her heart, Bobbie again resumed caring for patients until 2007 and later retired from Greenbrier Nursing Home. In addition to praying, Bobbie wrote poems to deal with life's testing times. Bobbie was a published writer, and she wrote wonderful poems to give God the glory. As a mother, Bobbie dedicated most of her life to raising her four children, Lisa, Joey, Corey, and Jermaine, whom she loved unconditionally. Her love and nurturing spirit for her family was exemplified daily as she chose to be a stay-home mom until her youngest child was of age. Every Sunday morning when her children were small, she would have bible study and teach them the Word of God. Bobbie loved reading and studying the Word of God daily. She exemplified Godly love, faith, and character for her children and everyone she came in contact with. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joe Ike Crosby Sr. - Nov. 15, 2011 and her younger sister Valorie Marie Pullom - May 20, 2013. Bobbie, the loving daughter, caring sister, virtuous woman, dedicated wife, and beloved mother leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children: Alesia (Elton) Johnson, Joe (Verncia) Crosby, Corey (Zandra) Crosby, and Jermaine (Myeshia) Crosby. She inherited 3 loving sons: Ronnie, Dwight, and Joseph. Twenty-one grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
