Betty Jean Kimbrough Williams was born on March 22, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Martha Ann Bonner Jackson and Willie Burl Kimbrough. She was educated in the Birmingham Public School System and was a graduate of A.H. Parker High School. She matriculated to Samford University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She was employed for many years as a medical laboratory supervisor at Laboratory Corporation of America where she was recognized for over thirty years of dedicated service. Betty accepted Christ at an early age under the pastorate of Reverend R. H. Thompkins and became a loyal and devoted member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She was one of the first female Trustee, a member of the Missionary Society, the Matrons, Interior Committee, Finance Committee and Women's #2 Bible Class. She also served as the financial secretary, the church directory chairperson and historian. She was united in holy matrimony to Robert C. Williams on August 27, 1971 and to this union one son was born. She enjoyed working with seniors and actually started what some consider her own Senior's Ministry. She was instrumental in starting the First Senior Citizen's Christmas Dinner at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. While she spent the vast majority of her life supporting and loving her husband, son, brothers and aunts, she received her greatest joy at the birth of her grandchildren: Carson Michaelle and Caitlyn McKenzie. Betty exhibited a giving spirit and her life was spent in support of the elevation of the quality of life of those around her. In her later years, she became a Corvette enthusiast along with her husband and traveled with the International Council of Corvette Clubs (ICCC). She departed into eternity on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 5:30 A.M. at St. Vincent's Hospital. Her presence will be surely missed. Betty's legacy of love and strong family values will continue in the lives of those she leaves to cherish her memories; a devoted husband, Robert C. Williams; son, Michael (Erica) Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Reginald (Laurie) Jackson and Jeffery Jackson; sister, Carolyn Ann Kimbrough Reese, all of Birmingham; uncles, James E. (Johanna) Bonner of Sea Side, California and Robert Coleman of Cleveland, Ohio; aunts, Lillie M. and Erma L. Bonner of Birmingham, Alabama, Georgia B. Jones of Galveston, Texas, and Jacqueline Y.
