Annie Bell Hopson, 97, was born August 1, 1927, to the late Ed & Hattie Samuel in Conecuh County, Alabama (Johnsonville Community). On March 8, 2025, she answered the call of her master and departed this life to eternal rest in our Lord Jesus Christ.
She grew upnin the Johnsonville Community and attended shcool there. At an early age, "Pimp", as she was affectionately known by her family, confessed Christ and joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful and dedicated member until she moved to Atmore, Alabama. In Atmore, she met and married the late Rev. P.D. Hopson and united with the A.M.E. denomination. Later, they moved to Bessemer and united with Petty's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. At Petty's Chapel, she was a faithful and dedicated member until her health prevented her from attending.
Annie Bell was employed with Jefferson County School Board for over 30 years. She was a hard and dedicated worker. In her spare time from work and during retirement, she had a great passion for gardening, grilling, and especially fishing. She could and would spend the entire day fishing.
Annie Bell was the last surviving sibling of her family. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Annie Bell leaves to cherish her legacy and memories: a devoted nephew/son, Rydell (Debra) Samuel, Tallahassee, Florida; nephew, Calvin Hopson, Jr., Birmingham: cousin Melanie Gamble (Napoleon) along with Maggie Tea, Hueytown: niece, Willie Lee Rudolph, Evergreen: special family friends, UW and Barbara Clemons, Birmingham: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Petty's Chapel Family.
