Amelia Jackson

A sweet jewel, affectionately known as Mrs. Amelia, was born in Hale County, Greensboro, Alabama on August 13, 1934 to Mary Jeffries and Raymond Thomas.

Amelia confessed belief in Christ at an early age. In 1941, the family relocated to Bessemer, Alabama. Alongside her mother, Amelia joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she became an active member and served in the Choir Ministry, Matron and Mission Ministries until her health began to decline in 2014.

Mrs. Amelia could find something good in everyone she met and she just glowed with her love for people.

Amelia united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. David Jackson whom preceded her in death in 1984. David and Amelia collaborated together and achieved opening and running several successful businesses in Bessemer and surrounding areas.

On the morning of July 18, 2024 around 9:15 a.m., Amelia passed quietly and peacefully into the realities of eternal life. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wash Jefferies and Orange Burke.

She leaves beautiful memories to cherish with: her son, Lamar Thomas (Sharlene) of Cordele, GA; daughter, Belinda Gray (Monroe Wallace) of Brighton, AL; grandchildren, Tiffany Gray of Bessemer, AL, Raymond Thomas of Brighton, AL, Richard Thomas of Cordele, GA, David Gray of Birmingham, AL, Ryon Thomas of Atlanta, GA and Sharena Thomas of California; nine great grandchildre and two great grandchildren; special cousins, Mary Jones of Bessemer, AL and Gloria W. Bowden of Virginia; a host of other relatives and friends.
