Alvin Wilson was the youngest son of twelve children born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Westley and Addie Bell Wilson in Bessemer, Alabama. Alvin was a product of the Bessemer School System. He joined Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church at a young age and remained a member until his death. HE retired from Pullman Standard where her was a welder. He was married to the late Esther Ruby Mosely Wilson. To this union two sons were born, one of which Alvin Wilson, Jr. preceded him in death. Alvin was a Trustee of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church. He contributed to the building and maintenance of Ward Chapel. Thus his name "Fix-It-Man' had a true meaning at Ward Chapel, as he was responsible for fixing anything that broke in the church. He was instrumental in suggesting that a side door be built to the church. This door would allow visitors and members easier entrance into the church. Most people in Bessemer only knew Alvin as "Fix-It-Man" because everyone called on him to repair something in their home. These repairs also included Chambers Funeral Home and Lumzy Funeral Home. Whatever was needed for repair was always in his truck. Alvin made the transition from labor to reward on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at UAB Hospital West at 12:11 A.M.
