Alvin Arnold Bruno was born to the late Ulysee Rodgers and Booker T. Bruno on December 4th, 1950 in Sweetwater, Alabama. He was lovingly referred to as “Joe” by his six brothers, Stan, Luellen, Benny, Andrew, Billy, and Phillip, and his three sisters Diane, Carolyn, Ethel Ree. His family matriculated through the Shelby County school system after relocating to Harpersville, Alabama. Alvin was a graduate of Vincent High School, Class of 1968.
Alvin served, with great pride, as a weapons supply clerk the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in 1973.
After serving his country via the military, Alvin continued to serve through work as a truck driver for over thirty five years. Continuing in the spirit of service, Alvin also performed the duties of a church usher, community leader, mentor, gardener, world class carpenter, and overall jack of all trades.
Left to cherish his precious memories is his loving wife, Faith and his devoted children Brandon (Shae Girl) and Ashley. He was affectionately called “Pawpaw” by his grandchildren NaKayla, Dasiah, Demarcus, Kearriah, Trinity, Trenton, Braylon, and bonus grandbabies Oliva and Savannah. He was blessed to be able to meet all three of his great-grandchildren Khia, Calani, and McKenzie. He also leaves a host nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends. He will certainly be missed.
