It is with great regret that we announce the demise of our father, grandfather and counselor, Albert Jerome Moss. Al was born October 10, 1950 to the late Thomas and Alma Moss in Bessemer, Alabama. Al graduated from J.S. Abrams High School and attended Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1972 as a Lance Corporal. He moved to Akron, Ohio and studied at the Washington Beauty Academy and Gerber Beauty and Barber College. He earned a Doctorate Degree in Cosmetology and became an International Platform Artist. He traveled extensively in the United States, England, France and Africa teaching hair cutting, coloring and designing. Al was the proud owner of Guys and Gals International Hair Care Centers in Akron, Ohio and in Birmingham, Alabama. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason with the Prince Hall Chapter in Akron, Ohio. Al was a mixture of humor, strength and charisma. He possessed a tremendous "gift of gab." And after sixty-four years of living, Al peacefully departed this phase of life on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alma Moss; brothers, Terry Moss and Adolphus Moss; and sister, Sealthiel Moss. In 1972, Al married his High School sweetheart, Gwen Davis. To this union they bore two wonderful children. He leaves to cherish his memories those loving children, Tanaya Moss-Hood and Jerome (Calleiah) Moss: his devoted grandchildren, Kylan Hood, Kylia Hood, Kaylee Hood and three week old Sienna Moss; his siblings, Glenda Moss, Minta Moss Beard and Rita Moss Alexander; and special cousins, Shirley Harvey and Katrina Johnson, along with a host of other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
